Proclaiming the Word Micro-Certification: Delivering Approved Sermons with Impact
This Lay Micro-Certification is for leaders in a congregation who need to preach approved sermons, which are written by clergy, during Sunday morning worship. This online formation is especially designed for smaller congregations. It is a formational opportunity to learn the art of delivering a sermon well, and it focuses on the Act of Proclamation within the sacred space of Worship. Upon completion of this micro-course, you will receive a micro-certification affirming your formation for the “Proclamation of the Word.”
Please note that as we form leaders to deliver approved sermons, we also want to acknowledge an important truth: the preaching resources historically available in our Church have not always reflected the full diversity of the Body of Christ, and we do seek (to the best of our ability) to address this issue in our online formation.

Have Mercy
The Gospel is political. But it is political in a particular way. Jesus announced a reign that had no military, maintained unclear borders, called for mercy and compassion as fundamental ways of living, and turned conventional values upside down. Watch the recorded interviews Virginia Theological Seminary professor Dr. Kyle Lambelet conducted with his colleagues as part of this October Lifelong Learning offering.
